Jan 23rd A Look at Rejects

The information below is reflective of some of the rejects received today.

 

Reject Code IND-183-01 (last 2 digits will change based who is rejected)
Message The Taxpayer/Spouse/Dependent did not enter a valid Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN). Please visit www.irs.gov/getanippin for further information and resubmit your return with the correct number.

Note:  The Client Status screen will display the rejected SSN number.  Once you secure the correct PIN, Open the return, enter PIN in the Forms search box and select Go to Form IRS Identification PIN now.  This will take you to the IRS Identity Protection PIN entry page.


Reject Code R0000-504-02 (last 2 digits will change based on who is rejected)
Message Each ‘DependentSSN’ and the corresponding ‘DependentNameControlTxt’ that has a value in ‘DependentDetail’ in the return must match the SSN and Name Control in the e-File database.

Note:  The Client Status screen will display the rejected SSN number.  Verify the information on the social security card with the information entered for the dependent.  Open the return and navigate to the Basic Information Section.  Click Edit on Dependents/Qualifying Person.  Click Edit on the appropriate Dependent/qualifying person, make the appropriate changes and click Continue.


Reject Code SEIC-F1040-535-02 (last 2 digits will change on who is rejected)

Message For each child on Schedule EIC (Form 1040A or Form 1040), Line 2 ‘QualifyingChildSSN’ and Line 3 ‘ChildBirthYr’ must match that in the e-File database.

Note:  The Client Status screen will display the rejected SSN number.  Verify the year of birth was entered correctly for the rejected child. Open the return and navigate to the Basic Information Section.  Click Edit on Dependents/Qualifying Person.  Click Edit on the appropriate Dependent/qualifying person, make the appropriate changes and click Continue.


Reject Code R0000-500-01
Message ‘PrimarySSN’ and ‘PrimaryNameControlTxt’ in the Return Header must match the e-File database.

Note:  The client Status screen will display the rejected SSN.  Verify the information on the social security card with the information entered for the Primary Taxpayer.  If any information needs changed, navigate to the Basic Information Section, select Personal Information, change the information and click Continue.
