The IRS has indicated shutdown begins on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time, in order to prepare the system for the upcoming Tax Year 2023 Filing Season. After this date and time, no returns can be electronically filed. Additional information available here.
Note: TaxSlayer Pro applications will still be available after the cutover, but if you prepare returns, you will need to file them via paper until the IRS brings their 1040 MeF system back online in late January. When the 1040 MeF system comes back online, you will be able to electronically file the following years: 2023, 2022, and 2021.
A product deployment for TaxSlayer Pro Online will occur Thursday, November 16th beginning at 5:00am ET to release the below update(s). Note that deployments may take up to 3 hours to complete. During this time, access to the program may be limited.
EITC DUE DILIGENCE
TaxSlayer offices, including support will be closed on Thursday, November 16th for a company Thanksgiving event. Normal off season support hours will resume on Friday, November 17th.

OTHER ADJUSTMENTS
When inside the e-file menu for 2021 and 2022, when continuing from the Return Details page to the Fee Summary page, if you receive the below “Continue Session” messaging follow the instructions below for a workaround while our development team corrects this issue.
If you see the above messaging to continue your session, exit the return and from the main site menu go to Configuration > Roles and Permission > Edit (the appropriate Role). Scroll down and make sure the Custom Fees and Discounts is turned on (below). You must now log out of the program and log back in for the new permission to take effect. You can now go back into the return to continue through e-file.
With the release of the 2023 TaxSlayer Pro Web application, an update has been made where “Security Templates” within the Configuration menu has been renamed “Roles and Permissions” so that the title is more inline with the action. While the page itself received a UI (User Interface) facelift, the basic functionality has remained unchanged. This update will be covered more in depth during the live Enhancement webinar scheduled for December as well as within the ondemand webinar for Site Administration set to be available mid-November. For now, we have made available the Roles and Permissions user guide here.
