2/28/2023:  We have identified a situation where your prior year taxpayers are getting the following message after completing their initial login from your site specific URL  We are in the process of working on a solution for deployment.  We recommend the taxpayer wait until a solution has been deployed rather than create a new account.  Creating a new account will not give them the option to carry forward the information from the prior year return.  This is not impacting all taxpayers.  You may want to have them try to open up a new browser instance and try the URL again.

By default the “Mark tax return as complete” stays selected when the return has been IRS Rejected.  If your site process is to remove the completed checkmark, you must select “Mark tax return as complete” and “Ready for retransmit” for it to be available to transmit from the Transmission menu

Update 12:48pm EST:  This has been resolved.  If you continue to see the application spinning do the following:

  • Log out
  • Open a new instance of your browser, not just a new tab
  • Log back in

This gives you a total refresh

Update 12:34pm EST:  We have narrowed the issue down to the server pool that renders access to the state returns.  We are actively working to resolve this.

We have opened a critical ticket to determine why some people are getting a constant spinning in the application.

Suggestion:  Open another instance of the browser and login from the new instance.  This seems to be isolated to a server, so we are checking the health of all servers.

Configuration: Assigned Questions

Scenario: When I look at the assigned questions under Configuration>>Question Templates I see duplicate questions.

Reasons:

  • At some point the Group Admin that originally assigned the questions, deleted the questions before unassigning them to your site
  • The group that assigned the questions changed them to be year specific

Solution: These cannot be removed from the “Assigned list”. Verify that there are no duplicate questions in the 2022 tax returns.

VITA/TCE support CANNOT remove these.

E-filing prior year returns is now live. The IRS allows the current + 2 prior years for electronic file. For this filing season, this means 2022, 2021, and 2020 Federal returns can be electronically filed. Most states with the exception of Rhode Island also allow prior year state e-files.
