We will be placing the site in maintenance on Thursday morning to release the below updates.

1040 VIEW

  • Update a display issue where Child Tax Credit was being marked instead of Other Dependent Credit when applicable (Issue 2218)

1099-INT/OID/DIV

  • Remove the current requirement to provide a TIN

E-FILE BLOCK

  • Correct an issue where a 1099-DIV with only tax-exempt dividend interest was prompting a blank 1099-DIV e-file block (Issue 2243)

FILING STATUS WIZARD

  • Update referenced years for the upcoming 2018 filing season (Issue 2223)

INACTIVITY TIMER INSIDE THE RETURN

  • Update the inactivity timer to 15 minutes when inside of the return per IRS Security Summit regulations for the upcoming season

REFUND GENERATOR

  • Update the Refund Generator display when inside a return to make it more distinguished when a balance is owed to the IRS and/or state(s)

E-FILE BLOCK

  • Correct a one-off issue where an incorrect e-file block was prompted for a 1099-R when a PSO Exclusion was reported (Issue 2193)

EIC CHECKLIST

  • Correct an issue where two questions on the EIC Checklist, when answered, were not saved when returning to the checklist menu (Issue 2248)

HEALTH INSURANCE

  • Adding the new exemption Code G for “General Hardship” to the exemption drop-down selection (Issue 2229)

We will be placing the site in maintenance on Tuesday, December 11th to release the below update but to primarily release back-end updates.

1099-INT/DIV/OID

  • Adding Payer TIN fields to accompany the already released Payer Address entry fields
    • The TIN is currently a required field but this requirement will be removed in the next couple weeks since the TIN is a not required field for Federal returns (Resolved).

CAPITAL GAIN/LOSS GRID VIEW

  • The Capital Gain/Loss entry grid has been updated to include the owner of reported transaction (Taxpayer, Spouse, or Taxpayer & Spouse). This new update cleans up this view for easier Quality Review and also allows future enhancements to include the net gain/loss to also be displayed now that more real estate has been created.

1099-R/RRB-1099-R

  • Correct the issue where an error is presented when trying to access the Simplified Method Worksheet (Issue 2235)

ARIZONA

  • Correct a print issue in 2017 where the checkbox is not being marked for Box 4a when applicable for TP/SP qualifying for injured spouse protection (Issue 2173)

E-FILE

  • Corrected the error that occurred when saving the first E-file screen to go to the Submission page of e-file (Issue 2239)

SCHEDULE C

  • Correct the issue where Supporting Statement entries are forced on the user rather than being an option entry method for income and expenses (Issue 2183)

STUDENT LOAN INTEREST WORKSHEET

  • Correct an issue where amounts from Line 45 of Form 2555 were not being added back to impact the Student Loan Interest Deduction calculation for Line 7 (Issue 2146)

1040 VIEW

  • Correct a display issue where Line 11b of 1040 was not marked when applicable
  • Correct a display issue where HoH filing status was marked with two (2) X’s instead of just one (1)
  • Correct the display issue where regular interest and tax-exempt interest was switched (Issue 2207)
  • Correct a display issue where Schedule 4 of 1040 View was not displaying the total on Line 64 (Issue 2215)
  • Added Dependent Age view to 2018 1040 View (Issue 2228)
  • Correct the jumbled 1040 View in 2018 (Issue 2242)

1099-MISC

  • Correct a page validation when a Box 3 entry is incorrectly prompting a validation meant for Box 4 entries (Issue 2238)

The below items are expected to be released on Thursday, November 28th…

1099-INT, DIV, and OID 

  • On the INT/DIV/OID entry menus where state withholding entries are available, we are adding Payer Address, City, State, Zip Code, and Foreign Address checkbox functionality. Some state returns will require this additional information not needed/required on the Federal return.

TAX-EXEMPT INTEREST

  • Removed an E-file Block when creating the e-file for returns containing a Form 1099-INT where only tax-exempt interest is reported (Issue 2199)

We will be placing the site in maintenance on Wednesday, November 14th to release a few updates but mostly back-end items.

1040 VIEW

  • Update the 2018 1040 View to address formatting and the new schedules

KNOWLEDGEBASE

  • Launch the new VITA/TCE Knowledgebase and update corresponding Knowledgebase links on The Springboard

RETURN TAGS

  • Within Configuration>Tags, Site Administrators can now reorder Return Tags to determine the order they will display to the preparer on the Submission page of e-file. This is the same behavior as reordering answers to custom questions.

Reports: Same reports with a new modern look

Along with allowing the site administrator to determine which reports show, we have now broken them into categories.

Transmission Reports

The Transmission reports are broken into Federal and State

The Federal section is where  you will find your IRS Acknowledgement, Old IRS Acknowledgement Reports, Rejected Returns reports, etc.  The State section where you will  your State Acknowledgement, Old State Acknowledgement Reports, and other state reports.

Financial Reports

This is where the Fees charged reports will be located for the sites tracking Fees saved to the taxpayer.

Custom Configuration Items

List the reports such as Custom Credit Report, Return Questions, etc.

Other Data Reports

This is where the Management Report that launches Web Reports is located.
