1095-A Warning at E-file [RESOLVED]

This morning (3/6/24), an enhancement was released to indicate to preparers, if carryforward was used, that a 2022 return had a 1095-A added but it had not been added to the 2023 return. However, it seems the 1095-A warning (screenshot below) is being presented at e-file regardless of if the prior year return had a 1095-A. We should have an update out during our normal Friday morning (3/8/24) window to correct this issue. NOTE: This is only a warning and not a block. All returns can still be transmitted as normal.

  • EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: If carryforward is used and the 2022 return had a 1095-A present, display a warning at e-file (screenshot below) if the 2023 return does not have a 1095-A present.
  • CURRENT BEHAVIOR: Below screenshot is being presented when the 2022 return was accepted and carryforward used in 2023 regardless if 1095-A was present on prior year.

2022 E-files: Stuck in Transmitted [update 2/13/2024 10:35 am EST RESOLVED]

Update:  The majority of the returns that were stuck in the Transmitted status have been sent to the IRS and acknowledged.  If you continue to see your 2022 returns in the status of transmitted after submitting them, please email VITA/TCE support with the EFIN and last 4 digits of the returns.

We currently have a high priority ticket in to resolve the issue where the 2022 returns are getting stuck in the Transmitted state with the reason of mismatch.  Approximately 50% of the e-files are making it through with no issues.

Recommendation:  Hold your 2022 e-files until we can resolve this.  It doesn’t appear that resetting the status back to “in progress” and sending a 2nd or 3rd time is increasing the odds of getting them IRS accepted.
