Along with allowing the site administrator to determine which reports show, we have now broken them into categories.

Transmission Reports

The Transmission reports are broken into Federal and State

The Federal section is where  you will find your IRS Acknowledgement, Old IRS Acknowledgement Reports, Rejected Returns reports, etc.  The State section where you will  your State Acknowledgement, Old State Acknowledgement Reports, and other state reports.

Financial Reports

This is where the Fees charged reports will be located for the sites tracking Fees saved to the taxpayer.

Custom Configuration Items

List the reports such as Custom Credit Report, Return Questions, etc.

Other Data Reports

This is where the Management Report that launches Web Reports is located.

Scenario:  I do not see any returns when I go to client Search

Navigate to Change Tax Year and select 2017

Scenario:  I see Start A New Return when I have 2018 selected

Yes, but you will receive the following message if you try to create a new return from the Start New Return Line or the button in Client Search.

Reminder:  We will not be turning on the Start New Return feature at the site level until a yet to be determined date in January 2019.

IRS will conduct maintenance on several electronic systems, including e-Services, over the Veterans Day weekend beginning Sunday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 a.m. ET through Monday, Nov. 12 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Impact:

We will not be transmitting returns or receiving acknowledgements during this extended maintenance period.

Update

The initial release of the tax year 2018 Practice Lab will not have all the new tax reform changes programmed because the final IRS forms are not yet finalized. We have evaluated the impact to individuals taking the VITA/TCE Certification test. Volunteers should still be able to certify but you should proceed with caution when selecting answers as the Practice Lab may provide tax year 2018 calculations on 2017 forms. TaxSlayer will update the Practice Lab as final forms are approved.

Background

The Practice Lab is tax software that is integrated within Link & Learn Taxes. A link connects students to the 2018 tax preparation software which allows hands-on practice in preparing tax returns.

Client Search

• Adding a Return Tag Filter labeled “No Tag” to allow sites to filter Client List for all returns with no return tag associated. Now, when filtering using the “Any Tag” filter, only returns with an associated Return Tag will display.

Management Reports

• Correct an issue with attempting to view the Extension Report was throwing an unexpected error (Issue #2117)

Rejected Clients Menu

• Inside the Reject Clients menu when viewing a reject code, the “Additional Information” value of the reject code, if applicable, has been added to the display. For example, if a return is rejected for a SSN mismatch, the “Additional Information” will show you the specific SSN that caused the reject. This will allow your sites to more efficiently manage all rejected returns from the Rejected Clients menu.
• Adding the Telephone Number, Notes Icon, and Return Tag icon to the Rejected Clients menu
• Adding the ability to sort columns inside the Rejected Clients menu
