Client Return History

TaxSlayer tracks the following items when the preparer Saves and Exits the return via the E-file section:

  • Username = This will be the user that was logged in at the time of the Save and Exit
  • Log Time = Date and Time of the Save and Exit
  • Preparer = The User/Preparer that the return is assigned to.  The first entry will show the User/Preparer that created the return.  The example below demonstrates that the preparer was changed to Kim Prep2 and Kim Prep2 opened the return and closed it via Save and Exit
  • Ero = The name of the site
  • SSN = Primary SSN
  • States on Return = Reflects the current states on the return at the time of the Save and Exit
  • Filing Status = Reflects the filing status on the return at the time of the Save and Exit
  • AGI = Reflects the AGI of the federal return at the time of the Save and Exit
  • Refund = Reflects the Refund/Balance due of the federal return at the time of the Save and Exit
  • Return Type — Reflects how the taxpayer will receive their refund or pay their balance due at the time of the Save and Exit
  • Account Information — Reflects the RTN/Account number of the primary deposit account at the time of the Save and Exit.

Purpose:  The feature allows the a quick look at the change history of the return.

Site Identification Number (SIDN)

In an effort to drastically reduce the number of unmatched SIDNs entered due to typographical errors, the SIDN for sites will be embedded in the Pro Online application based on the software order for online users.

For desktop users, the site administrator must double key the SIDN for validation purposes.

The site administrator does not have to rekey the SIDN at the preparer level, they simply click a link that inputs the SIDN found in setup.  The tax applications pulls the SIDN to the appropriate places in the return.  The preparer does not have the opportunity to change the SIDN at the return level.

Adding an Unlimited Number of Custom Questions

Each site can add an unlimited number of custom questions and corresponding answer bank.  The software will be delivered with four pre-defined questions and answer banks.  These questions cannot be edited or deleted at the site level.

All questions and answers will be reflected in easy to read reports for the sites to analyze the information captured.

How do I access Prior Year Applications in Pro Online?

The site administrator controls whether or not a preparer has the ability to prepare prior year returns.  If the preparer has a Security Template that enables prior year returns, they will access the prior years from their Welcome Page.

The Preparer will login to one URL and have access to the current year application and the three prior year applications.

Can I Switch Between Entry Methods?

Yes.  You have the ability to switch between the different entry methods without losing previously entered data.  Preparers have the following data entry options available to them:

  • 1040 View — Allows the preparer to work down the 1040 form to access the entry forms.
  • Enter Myself — Use the menu driven methodology to access the entry forms.
  • Guide Me — Guides the preparer through completing the returns using Yes/No questions that give them access to the entry forms based on their answers.
  • Taxpayer Profiles — Guides the preparer through an established set of entry forms determined by the site administrator.  This feature is designed to increase return preparation efficiency.  Preparers are not limited to the entry forms in the profile.
  • Quick File — Allows the preparer to build an entry list at the return level based on the income documents presented by the taxpayer.
  • Forms Search — Enter the form number in the Forms Search box to quickly display the entry form

Reminder:  All entry methods are interchangeable.
